Director, Offline Marketing
Location: Redwood City, CA
Position Overview
The “Director, Offline Marketing” for ReputationDefender will have responsibility for driving offline customer acquisition and retention, creating and building the corporate Brand, developing online and offline creative, maintaining key distribution partnerships, consumer research and product packaging and pricing.
Responsibilities
• Branding and Creative Development – Work with the CMO (and outside contract partners) to develop a tighter corporate brand positioning as well as refined and validated product branding. Lead the development and testing of offline creative in support of customer acquisition (radio, DRTV, print, out of home, trade, collateral). Work closely with Online team to develop breakthrough, effective, low CPA online creative (including banners, landing pages, text ads). Work closely with Product and Ops teams to deliver brand proposition in operational product delivery.
• Marketing Strategy and Planning – Partner with the CMO to architect an integrated marketing strategy (brand, distribution, pricing and packaging) based on rigorous quantitative analysis and marketplace insight. Utilize relevant market data, consumer research and insights, and competitive intelligence to identify new business opportunities.
• Product Marketing – Partner with Product team to guide and enhance the development of products and services that meet the needs of consumers and as well as existing customers. Develop strategies and communications that support the expansion and customization of existing products and the introduction of new products.
• Customer Acquisition and Loyalty – Through strategic segmentation and enhanced targeting, and by optimizing the Marketing mix, lead Marketing’s efforts to drive revenue through stronger customer acquisition, enhanced retention, cross-sell and up-sell, and a relentless focus on improving ROI (reducing cost-per-acquisition) and maximizing LTV (Lifetime Value).
• Marketing Partnerships – Lead identification and execution of Partnership Marketing opportunities which help drive profitable results and are consistent with, and supportive of, the company’s mission. Work closely with Business Development to enhance and maintain relationships with key channel partners. Develop new ideas and creative methods of enhancing effectiveness of partnerships.
• Insights and Innovation Leadership – Using cutting edge quantitative and qualitative research techniques, track consumer awareness and attitudes towards company, category and competitors as well as existing customer satisfaction. In addition, identify broad marketplace and consumer trends that may impact the business.
• Functional Operations Improvement – Review and enhance, where necessary, all Marketing processes, measurements, information systems, etc., that are needed to enable the Marketing function to operate efficiently and effectively in pursuit of its objectives. Provide critical linkage to Product, Finance, OPs and Business Development groups.
Reporting Relationships
The “Director, Offline Marketing” will report to the CMO, Terrence Sweeney.
The Marketing staff is currently organized into four teams – Offline Marketing (Product Marketing, MarCom, Offline Media), Online Marketing (SEO, SEM, Affiliate, Online Media), Website Operations (production, coordination, analytics) and Public Relations. The new “Director, Offline Marketing” will work closely with the other three groups to acquire and retain customers efficiently.

Desired Experience
• Marketing Communications & Media – Ideally, candidate will have recent experience developing marketing communications in support of company and product branding, customer acquisition and retention across a number of media, either for a corporation or as an account manager at an advertising agency. Experience in the planning and purchasing of offline and online media is important.
• Direct Marketing – Large-scale DM experience that focused on driving efficient nationwide customer acquisition and/or retention efforts, across multiple channels, with a focus on Cost Per Acquisition. Relevant industries include eCommerce, Wireless, Retail, Financial Services, Media, Publishing, and Technology.
• Online Experience – Ideally, candidates will also have recent/previous experience developing both strategic and executional Marketing plans for an online operation, with an understanding of the current online marketplace (paid/natural search, SEO/SEM, affiliate and partnership Marketing, etc.) and suppliers.
• Brand/Product Management – Demonstrated experience in Positioning, Pricing, Brand Management, Segmentation, Insights/Research, Communication Strategy and New Products/Innovation is ideal.
• Large and Small Companies – Ideally, candidates will have experience building and growing brands in both large company and smaller company environments. The key here is that they understand how to stretch precious resources, like money, headcount and time. This is oftentimes more about “attitude” than “experience,” but regardless, candidates need to demonstrate that they are a resourceful and innovative Marketer that is comfortable in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
